LIFE AND WORK OF AN IDEA
In the year 2001, I met the Mosqueras and their son, Arturo E., in Buenos Aires. I vividly remember that meeting. Perhaps I remember it because at that time we unknowingly laid the foundations tone of what we would manage to build from then on. Or perhaps I remember it also for how overwhelming it was for me to have a foreign art collector come and find me at home by suggestion of his collection advisor: none other than the critic and poet Ricardo Pau-Llosa. I think I will never forget that meeting or the amazement I felt when I heard Arturo say Ricardo’s name. I know today how great my luck was.
Since then, I have cultivated a strong friendship with them and their families and considerably grown along the way. I visited them many times and during these visits, apart from developing pro-jects together with Arturo and Ricardo (in which my dear friend Marcelo Bordese participated as well), I was able to meet a great number of artists. Those were very intense days. We would spend many afternoons in conversation at Arturo and Liza’s, but there is one afternoon in particular that has stuck in my mind. Bordese’s solo exhibition at Farside Gallery was being prepared while we had a long chat where I distinctly recall discussing the considerations about the formative and educational aspects of the projects Art@Work and Farsi-de Gallery. Both projects contribute in preparing those who participate in them for the exercise of an increasingly interpenetrated view, critical in its relationship with artistic works and projects that seek to establish lines of thought which are always risky, always bold, always challenging to formal and accommodating views.
Thanks to this exposition, today Colectivo Periferia, Art@Work and Farside Gallery look at one another in their own mirrors as well as in the ones generously offered by the works of the many and great artists participating in the exhibit. And in this game of mirrors, I hope the words, the afternoon, the laughter and embraces will manage to somersault and make linked times bounce, echoing that which never wanted to leave. As an imaginary hug, this show offers itself bearing the traces of an idea raised in the warmth of dreams.
